Third place games suck, don't they? Why they exist is beyond me. Oh wait, it's another check to cash. But neither the United States nor Panama really want to be here playing in this game and yet here we are.
It's not even clear how hard Panama will try, seeing as they considered boycotting the match. Meanwhile, Jurgen Klinsmann is opting for a half-strength squad.
While some stalwarts like Michael Bradley, Fabian Johnson and Brad Guzan are in the team, several other places see new faces. Chris Wondolowski is starting up top with Aron Johannsson, while pet project Ventura Alvarado has been benched in favor of Omar Gonzalez. Interestingly, Tim Ream is at left back, where he plays for Bolton, but has played sparingly for the U.S.
United States: Guzan; Chandler, Gonzalez, Brooks, Ream; Zusi, Corona, Bradley, Johnson; Johannsson, Wondolowski
The match is on Fox Sports 2 and Univision so if you don't get FS2, watch it in Spanish. There's a very important third place finish to win, or something.
