Let’s go crazy, USMNT fans. According to a report by Sports Illustrated’s Grant Wahl, the United States will open the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup at Allianz Field in St. Paul, Minnesota. Allianz Field, set to open next year, will be the new home for Minnesota United.

Wahl indicates that CONCACAF intends to announce the Gold Cup opener Tuesday. At an expected capacity if 19,400, Allianz Field is hoping the Gold Cup is the start of it being in the USMNT and USWNT rotation of fields and a prime candidate to host future USMNT-Mexico World Cup qualifiers.
The opener will be played on June 18, 2019, which will place the Gold Cup during the 2019 Women’s World Cup. This will certainly leave fans of both national teams budgeting their time next June and July to watch both teams play in their respective tournaments. Still, Minnesota has pushed to host the MNT and next summer it appears it will get its chance to show off its brand new stadium.
