The 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup begins this weekend, and the biennial tournament comes with heightened excitement. Despite this being labeled the “off year” tournament, teams are hoping to show that they are the class of the continent.
Mexico enters as the defending champions and the favorites to win a 12th Gold Cup title. They have made the Final in 6 of the last 8 tournaments, winning 5 in that span. The USMNT, who recently won the Concacaf Nations League, have made 7 of the last 8 Gold Cup Finals, winning 4 in that span. Jamaica and Panama have also made the Gold Cup Final in the past decade, while teams like Canada, Honduras, and Costa Rica look to try and shake up the foundation of Concacaf with a title.
So, as we are set to begin the tournament on Saturday and with the field ready to go, it’s time to do some predictions. Take the poll and then hit the comments of this Community Corner and decide who’s making the final and who walks away as the Gold Cup champions.
