The United States Men’s National Team are Gold Cup champions, after an Uno A Cero victory over Mexico in the final Sunday night in Las Vegas. A 117th minute goal by Miles Robinson was the difference in a match that had chances on both sides and, despite the lack of scoring, was a worthy final. The USMNT now have won 2 Concacaf titles over their main rivals in the span of 7 weeks.
Not only was Miles Robinson the scorer of the game-winning goal, off a Kellyn Acosta free kick that found Robinson’s head at the edge of the 6 yard box, but he had an incredible performance at centerback for the Americans. Matt Turner and Kellyn Acosta also had performances that were worthy of the Man of the Match, and the SSFC community gave all three players incredibly high ratings. In the end, Miles Robinson inched past both Acosta and Turner to win the SSFC Man of the Match.
