Major League Soccer is currently in the middle of its MLS is Back tournament, while the USL Championship has begun its regular season in their home markets, albeit in “local” pods of teams. Every year, the evergreen debate of whether promotion and relegation would work in the United States takes flight, and it usually centers around these two leagues.
Neither league has a single table, as both are split into conferences, don’t face every other team, and have playoffs at the end of the season. However, there’s still talk about whether some of the teams in the USL Championship would do well in MLS, while MLS fans each probably have a team that they would contract from the top flight of American soccer and send them to the USL Championship.
So, the Community Corner question of the week is: which teams would you switch between Major League Soccer and the USL Championship? Now, for the purposes of this question, you can only take one team from either league. No sending the entire Western Conference of MLS to the USL Championship for FC Tulsa. Hit the comments and let us know which MLS team you would send down, and which USL Championship team you would elevate to take its place.
