If you’ve been living under a rock for the past 24 hours, let me give you a quick crash course on what happened. The Chicago Fire held an introductory press conference for their newest signing, German legend Bastian Schweinsteiger. An uninformed reporter asked him if he could help the Fire’s chances of winning the World Cup. Yeah, that happened.
Needless to say, the internet had a field day with it. Memes and jokes galore. The typical response to anything absurd happening in sports. Well, Bastian’s new teammate and U.S. national team member Dax McCarty responded today to offer his support in the Fire’s bid for World Cup glory.
The positive about not getting any time in the recent World Cup Qualifiers is that I'm fresh for our World Cup Qualifier this weekend #cf97

Thankfully he’s nice and fresh from riding the bench in the USMNT’s two most recent matches. He’s ready to go out there and fit for Chicago to lift that beautiful golden trophy. Good luck to him and the Fire this season as they try to achieve the impossible.
