Honduras vs. USA preview: Time, TV schedule and more

The U.S. opens World Cup qualifying in Honduras and you can only see it if you have beIN Sport.

Marc Serota

United States fans had a couple opportunities in 2012 to find beIN Sport, be it on their channel guide or a bar, and now it is time to put that research to the test for the Hex. Because the network bought up the rights to all of the Americans' road World Cup qualifiers except Mexico, the U.S. will be on the new, still scarcely carried channel five times in 2013 beginning on Wednesday in Honduras.

The U.S. should be able to get a result of the match in the absence of Emilio Izaguirre and Andy Najar. While Oscar Boniek and Mario Martinez are good players, they do not offer the same dynamism on the wing, and especially the same defensive skills as Izaguirre and Najar.

As has been the case since Klinsmann took over the U.S., the question is not so much whether the Americans can handle pressure at the back or the Honduras midfield, but whether they can create chances and score goals. Luckily for them, it may only take one goal to win it.

This is the first match of the final round of COCNACAF World Cup qualifying for both teams and a vital one for the U.S. They follow this up with a match against Costa Rica and a trip to Mexico next week, which are tough matches that the Americans don't want to go into without a point.

Match Date/Time: Wednesday, February 6; 4:00 p.m. ET

Venue: Estadio Olimpico, San Pedro Sula, Honduras

TV: beIN Sport
