USA names roster for U-20 training camp in Argentina

The U-20 World Cup is just nine months away, and the U.S. is heading to Argentina to continue preparations.

The United States has named their roster for the upcoming U-20 camp, and it features a lot of familiar faces. Most of the players have been youth national team stars before or play in MLS so there are only a handful of relative unknowns in the squad.

The team will have a 10-day training camp in Buenos Aires, Argentina, including a match against the Argentina U-20's. U.S. Soccer says that it is possible that the team will play two matches against Argentinean first division reserve teams while they are there as well.

Tab Ramos' team is led by six MLS players and three from Club Tijuana. Tommy Thompson, who has been excellent for the San Jose Earthquakes, is most notable, as is the LA Galaxy's Bradford Jamieson IV and Sporting Kansas City's Erik Palmer-Brown. The Xolos trio of Paul Arriola, Fernando Arce and John Requejo Kr. are regularly part of the U-20 set-up and are among the Americans' best young players.

This is the U-20's fifth training camp or tournament of the year, with the last coming in July when they won the National Training Center Invitational. The team only has five months before the CONCACAF U-20 Championship, which will serve as qualification for next May's U-20 World Cup.
