Algeria Africa Cup of Nations loss conjures up memories of Landon Donovan World Cup winner

Algeria lost on a 91st minute goal in the Africa Cup of Nations, their first major tournament in South Africa since Landon Donovan sunk them...also in the 91st minute.

Algeria and Tunisia were scoreless in their Africa Cup of Nations opener when the fourth official raised his board to indicate the amount of stoppage time. They were into the 91st minute when seemingly out of nowhere, Youssef Msakni scored a stunner for Tunisia. Algeria was in shock. They stood there and held their heads, fell to their knees and watched their opponents celebrate a winner in the waning minutes.

It was a familiar feeling for Algeria. And in a familiar place.

The Algerians were back in South Africa, where just 31 months ago their hearts were broken in the 91st minute...by Landon Donovan. You may remember it.

"Howard, gratefully claims it. Distribution brilliant. Landon Donovan, there are things on here for the USA. Can they do it here?

"Cross, and Dempsey is denied again, but Donovan has scored!

"OH CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS?! GO, GO, USA!"

Algeria's hearts broken yet again, back at the scene of the crime.
