Swansea trying to sign Danny Williams

Danny Williams is being chased by Swansea City, according to Sky Sports. The move would put the American midfielder in the Premier League, if it is completed.

Reading are hesitant to sell Williams because they sold Nick Blackman earlier this month and do not want to end up too short-handed. As a result, the deal appears to be unlikely.

That Williams is being linked to a Premier League move is encouraging. He's had an excellent season for Reading and even if he doesn't go to Swansea, he could end up making a step up soon. His contract with the Royals expires in 18 months so, unless Reading can sign him to a new contract, they will have to sell him in the summer or risk losing him on a free.

Williams is in the best form of his life and is still only 26 years old. If he can continue to play superbly, he should end up at a bigger club soon, as well as get more chances for the United States. The Americans need help in the central midfield and his form makes him as much of an option as anyone else.
