It was a great weekend for the Yanks Abroad so let’s take a look around the globe:
Fabian Johnson
It was a huge day for Fabian as Mönchengladbach defeated Schalke 4-2. The 29-year-old recorded a brace and distributed the ball really well all day (over 80% passing percentage). But he was fantastic on both sides of the ball winning challenges and intercepting passes on defense as well. Johnson was the obvious the Man of the Match. The second goal was brilliant, check it out below our other goal scorer.
Christian Pulisic
Pulisic replaced Marco Reus, who picked up a knock, in the 44’ minute in a 6-2 win over Bayer Leverkusen. It had been a while since he bulged the net for BvB but Pulisic poked home a difficult ball in the 77’ min to notch his third goal of the season. He also was credited with an assist on Dortmund’s final goal by Raphael Guerreiro.
Bobby Wood
We’ll stick with the Bundesliga where Bobby Wood’s Hamburg got the 1-0 win over John Brooks’ Hertha Berlin. Both defensive lines were solid in this match and Wood wasn’t getting many chances to have an impact. But he did do very well to win the ball back that led to the winner for Hamburg. He enjoyed getting the better of his buddy.
John Brooks
Hertha Berlin is fighting to get into the top four this year with Brooks starting at CB. He turned in yet another solid performance but couldn’t do anything about the goal. Berlin sit in 5th place just four points behind Hoffenheim for the UCL Qualification spot.
Timmy Chandler
He went the full 90 in a 2-1 loss to Freiburg as his Eintracht Frankfurt side continue to slide down the table.
Geoff Cameron
Got his first start since knee surgery and played 90 minutes as a defensive midfielder helping Stoke to the 2-0 win over Middlesbrough.
DeAndre Yedlin
The speedster came on as a sub in the 81st in a 3-1 Newcastle win over Huddersfield Town in the English Championship.
Danny Williams
The Reading midfield picked up an assist and finished with an impressive stat line in a 2-1 win over Wolverhampton.
Matt Miazga
Went the full 90 for Vitesse in the Netherlands and loss 3-1. The central defender is on loan from Chelsea.
Joe Corona
He got the start for Tijuana and contributed an assist, but was also sent off with a red card in the 77’ minute.
