Yanks Abroad: 10 things you need to know from this weekend

New, 6 comments

Your weekly update as the boys returned to their clubs this weekend after the international break.

Soccer: 2018 FIFA World Cup Qulafying-Mexico at USA Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

Bobby Wood

It was a fairly quiet week for the Americans and the most notable performance I have for you is an assist from Bobby Wood. He went the full 90 in Hamburg’s 2-1 win over Cologne.

John Brooks

Hertha Berlin missed a big chance to steal points and move closer to 4th place (the final Bundesliga place for UCL qualification) in a 3-1 loss to Hoffenheim. But Brooks’ numbers would suggest he had actually had decent match. He passed the ball with 86% efficiency, won his duals & aerials, plus he added two interceptions and five clearances.

Emerson Hyndman

The 20-year-old went the distance for the Rangers in a 1-1 draw with Motherwell. Also looks like Brendan Rodgers wants to steal Hyndman and bring him to the Rangers’ biggest rival.

Carli Lloyd

Lloyd was active for Manchester City as she went the full 90' in their 1-0 defeat of Fortuna Hjorring in Champions League. City are through to semifinals with their 2-0 aggregate win over Fortuna and will next face...Olympique Lyonnais and Alex Morgan.

Alex Morgan

Morgan also went full 90' for her team and did her best to take her chances on goal despite Wolfsburg gunning for her all game long. Lyon went down 1-0 but advanced on a 2-1 aggregate. She and OL will face Man City in two legs on April 22 or 23 and April 29 or 30.

Christian Pulisic

A late sub in the 87’ minute for Dortmund’s draw with Schalke.

Timmy Chandler

Eintracht Frankfurt was right at the top of the Bundesliga not too long ago, but have fallen down to the 7th place after a 0-0 draw with Borussia M’Gladbach. Timmy turned in a solid shift as he went the full 90 doing work on both sides of the ball.

Danny Williams

Danny picked up a yellow card & finished with 91% pass success as Reading defeated Leeds in Englands second tier.

Alfredo Morales

The Ingolstadt midfielder played the full 90 in a relegation battle as they defeated Mainz 05 by a final of 2-1.

Mix Diskerud

He’s on loan from NYCFC over in Sweden right now. Mix played 87 minutes for IFK Goteborg as they drew with Malmo 1-1.
