Another young American has debuted in one of Europe’s top leagues!
Weston McKennie, 18, made his professional debut for Schalke 04 today when they took on Ingolstadt.
McKennie was subbed on in the 77th minute of the game when Schalke was a man down. McKennie locked it down and secured the point for Schalke.

McKennie has impressed this season in Schalke’s U-19 team. His great play led to his promotion to the first team.
He plays in the number 6 role, which means he is more of a defensive midfielder.
McKennie is a very energetic player and has a great work rate. Being just 18 years old, he is also very physical and commands the field.
The future is very bright for McKennie.
Unfortunately for the U.S., McKennie will not be participating in the under-20 World Cup this summer because Schalke held him back to compete in the U-19 German Championships.
But, all is not bad, the U.S. has yet another youngster playing for one of the top teams in one of Europe’s top leagues!
