He spent last year playing in the Scottish Premier League with Rangers FC, where he was able to put forth a good campaign. He scored four goals in 18 appearances and was even named Rangers FC’s young player of the year.
After a successful stint at Rangers FC last season, Hyndman is back with Bournemouth and hoping to crack the starting 11. However, Bournemouth does have a couple of central midfielders ahead of Hyndman in the pecking order, and he will need to impress in order to get playing time. With that being said, this is a very important year for Hyndman. Being that it is a World Cup year, Hyndman must do enough to impress not just his club manager, but also USMNT coach Bruce Arena.
Hyndman can bring a lot to both his club team and the USMNT. He is a prototypical central midfielder, an engine to any team, with great vision and excellent passing ability. He does a good job of dictating the tempo of the game. One of the more underrated aspects of his play is the work he does defensively. He presses the ball well, keeps the midfield in shape, and just overall has the game I.Q. you want to see out from your center mid.
Overall, if you introduce Emerson Hyndman into your team, you are going to be happy. Looking towards the future, one of the positions the USMNT will need a replacement is at center midfield. Hyndman is the perfect man to consider down the line. He has all the qualities you would need to have. All he’s lacking is the opportunity.
That is why he is a player to watch this year during the Premier League campaign. If he gets in, he will set the American soccer world on fire.
