Bobby Wood is picking up where he left off last season for Hamburger SV. The 24-year-old United States international found some open space in their match against Köln and smoked it past the goalkeeper to find the back of the net for the first time this season.

This is what USMNT fans want to see from the Hawaiian phenom as we approach two crucial World Cup qualifiers next Friday against Costa Rica and September 5th in Honduras. Bobby Wood appears to be at the top of his game, and that can not only help the USMNT, it will also help Hamburg too. Hamburg, who needed some final matchday heroics to stave off possible relegation last season, is desperate to climb back into the top half of the Bundesliga. Having Wood clicking on all cylinders will only help Hamburg, and hopefully he will carry this momentum into World Cup qualifying for the USMNT.
