Omar Gonzalez is back at it for Atlas. The 30-year-old defender is still doing it in Liga MX, scoring in the 91st minute last night for Atlas to give them a 4-3 win over Veracruz. Off a corner in the 1st minute of stoppage time, Gonzalez rose tall to head the ball up and down into the goal.

It’s Gonzalez’s second straight match with a goal for Atlas, and has started all but one match for them since heading there on loan from Pachuca back in July. Atlas has had a terrible run so far during the 2018 Apertura season, as they currently sit in last place with just 8 points from 13 matches. They are one point behind Veracruz in the standings, but they remain in 14th place in the combined Liga MX relegation table. A few more wins will help them in their quest to stay in the top flight next season. More goals from Omar Gonzalez can only be a good thing, plus it’s awesome to see Americans do well in Mexico’s top league.
Atlas will have a chance to climb out of the Apertura cellar next weekend when they travel to play Nexaca.
