Yanks Abroad: Amon assists after returning from USMNT debut

We’ve gathered up all the notable performances from around the globe over the past week.

Peru v United States

It was a fairly quiet week from our Americans playing abroad, but we’ve still got plenty of assists and goals to check out. Jonathan Amon, riding the high of his international debut, recorded an assist over the weekend. Not to be out done, Christian Pulisic and Lynden picked up assists as well.

Let’s take a look at the highs & lows:

Germany

Christian Pulisic
In a big 4-0 win that saw Borussia Dortmund jump to the top of the Bundesliga, Pulisic came off the bench in the 66th minute. He completed 13 of 16 pass attempts, one of which assisted the fourth goal. HIGHLIGHT

Weston McKennie
He got the start for Schalke 04’s 2-0 loss to Werder Bremen on Saturday. He did all the dirty work in the midfield as usual, but he was dispossessed four times. However, he did add four key passes and finish at 81% passing.

John Brooks
Wolfsburg was the victim of Bayern Munich, who were desperate to end a four-match winless run. They would do so, wining 3-1 despite going down to ten men. Brooks went the distance and completed 93% of his passes on the day. He also had five clearances and three interceptions.

Bobby Wood
Wood had an absolutely dreadful day after getting the start in Hannover’s 2-2 draw with Bayer Leverkusen. He struggled to get involved and was subbed out in the 60th minute. He had just 22 touches on the ball, mustered only two shots (one on target), and completed 66% of his passes.

Alfredo Morales
Unfortunately, the 28-year-old was part of Fortuna Düsseldorf’s 7-1 loss in Frankfurt. Yes, seven goals. Morales completed 73% of his passes and won just six out of 21 duels.

Andrew Wooten
The German-American converted a penalty kick for Sandhausen in a 4-1 win over Ingolstadt in the 2. Bundesliga. HIGHLIGHT

Denmark

Jonathan Amon
Amon returned to the Superliga after his national team debut to record an assist on the loan goal for Nordsjælland in a 4-1 loss to Midtjylland. HIGHLIGHT

England

DeAndre Yedlin
Struggling Newcastle took another tough loss at home to Brighton & Hove Albion by a final score of 1-0. Yedlin went the full 90 minutes completing 36 out of 43 pass attempts. Newcastle are sitting in dead last with just two points from the first nine matches.

Lynden Gooch
The Sunderland man picked up his 5th assist of the League One season in a 2-0 win over Shrewsbury Town. He also has three goals so far. Gooch is doing exactly what he needed to be doing in the third tier.

Geoff Cameron
Cameron helped Queens Park Rangers to a 2-0 win in which we went 90 minutes in the midfield completing 56% of his passes. He was dispossessed once but actually had a pretty solid match.

Tim Ream
Saturday was an ugly day for Ream & Fulham, who fell to Cardiff City 4-2. The centerback lost his footing at the worst time and Cardiff eventually scored after a couple attempts on goal. HIGHLIGHT

Eric Lichaj
He played all 90 minutes of Hull City’s 1-1 draw with Preston North End in the 2nd tier. He finished with 65% passing in a pretty quiet day for the defender.

Scotland

Emerson Hyndman
22-year-old Hyndman went 87 minutes in Hibernian FC’s 4-2 loss at Celtic.

Netherlands

Andrija Novakovich
On his loan from Reading FC, Andrija played 90 minutes at striker for Fortuna Sittard in a 3-1 win over De Graafschap. He had four shots, three on target, and completed 13 out of 20 passes.

Belgium

Kenny Saief
Saief came off the bench for the final 22 minutes as Anderlecht beat Cercle Brugge 4-2. They’re in 3rd place in the First Division A, three points behind Club Brugge.

Mexico

Omar Gonzalez
The big guy scored the match winner for Atlas in a 4-3 victory over Veracruz. It was the second straight match he recorded a goal. He also got a yellow card. HIGHLIGHT

William Yarbrough
The 29-year-old keeper the start in league play for Leon and earned a shutout in the 2-0 win.

Ventura Alvarado
The left back went 90 minutes for Necaxa’s 2-0 loss to Leon.
