The midweek viewing guide is back with Champions League action on Wednesday and Europa League action on Thursday, where we’re likely to see some United States internationals in action. Here’s what you can watch:
Wednesday
Borussia Dortmund v Atletico Madrid - 3p on Galavision, Univision Deportes en Vivo, B/R Live
Christian Pulisic was back from injury this past weekend and had an assist coming off the bench in Dortmund’s 4-0 win over Stuttgart. The team now faces a stiff test against Atlético Madrid, who have won their first two Champions League group stage matches, allowing a single goal in each. The goals have been coming pretty easily for BvB so far this year, as they lead the Bundesliga in goals by a wide margin. However, trying to break down the Atlético defense will likely be much tougher but will also be good experience for Pulisic.
Galatasaray v Schalke 04 - 3p on Univision Deportes en Vivo or B/R Live
Simultaneously, Weston McKennie and Schalke will be kicking off against Galatasaray in Istanbul. Currently, Schalke sit tied for first in their group and the match against Galatasaray will be an important one as the two teams are separated by just a point. Galatasaray defeated Lokomotiv Moscow 4-1 at home before losing at FC Porto 1-0 in their second match. Schalke have had difficulty scoring this season, with only 5 goals through 8 games in Bundesliga play and just a single goal in each of their first two Champions League games. They were, however, able to manage a win and a draw in those two games and currently sit with four points.
Other Notes:
- Ethan Horvath will likely be on the bench for Club Brugge as they face AS Monaco at 12:55p on Galavision
- William Yarbrough has started every Copa MX game for León, and they face Cruz Azul in the semifinals at 9:30p on Univision Deportes.
Thursday
Anderlecht v Fenerbahce - 12:55p on Galavision, B/R Live
Kenny Saief is healthy and saw twenty minutes off the bench for Anderlecht coming off the international break. Anderlecht are off to a slow start in Europa League play, having lost their first two matches. Their opponent, Fenerbahce, lost their opener 4-1 but defeated Spartka Trnava 2-0 in their most recent match.
