Just a few days after scoring his first goal for Schalke 04, Weston McKennie is back at it. The 20-year-old midfielder scored in the 47th minute to give Schalke a 1-0 lead against Fortuna Düsseldorf.

It was McKennie’s first league goal for Schalke, just a few days after he scored his first goal for the club, a game-winner against Lokomotiv Moscow in Champions League. He becomes the second-youngest American to score in the Bundesliga, just behind Christian Pulisic. Unfortunately, he was subbed off in the 79th minute due to an injury. Hopefully, it’s nothing too serious for the youngster.
This goal comes just before he reports to camp for the United States Men’s National Team. He’s entering on a high after a bone bruise from a nasty tackle against Bayern Munich caused him to miss a match. He’s back, he’s healthy again, and he’s really performing well. The USMNT will certainly need that against Colombia and Peru.
Glad that McKennie got the first of hopefully many goals for Schalke in his career, and we’re hoping he’s okay and we will see him next week against Colombia and Peru!
