The hits just keep on coming for Aron Johannsson. The 28-year-old Werder Bremen striker has been ruled out for the next 3 months after he underwent another surgery to help fix some ankle issues that have kept him out all season.
Johannsson’s career has just been full of injuries, from his ankles to his hip to his knees. It has led him to only have 29 total appearances in 4 seasons with Werder Bremen. This most recent ankle injury has kept him from appearing in a single match so far this season.
Once a heralded forward who filed a one-time switch with FIFA to represent the United States after a youth career with Iceland, his health has impeded him from making an impact on the international level. He had 4 goals in 19 international caps for the USMNT and was a member of the 2014 World Cup squad. He last appeared for the national team in a friendly against Brazil in September 2015.
@aronjo20 has been forced to undergo another operation and will be out for the next three months
