Another American took his first steps in Scotland and made them count. Ian Harkes, in his debut for Dundee United, scored the final goal in a 4-0 beatdown of Montrose in the 4th round of the Scottish Cup.
Harkes made his appearance in the match in the 70th minute, subbing on for Cammy Smith with Dundee United up 2-0. United were up 3-0 late in the match when Harkes scored in the second minute of stoppage, punching in a ball from just outside the 6 yard box.

Harkes signed with Dundee United earlier this week after two seasons as a Homegrown Player with D.C. United. The 23-year-old signed with the club that his grandfather supported and wanted to make his debut a special one. Well, he did well enough to break out the Dundee United goal graphic for the first time:
As promised @HarkesIan here is your goal graphic - Well done on your debut goal #DUFC pic.twitter.com/8bInV8f5vm

It was only the Scottish Cup and it was against a lower division team, but this can only help his confidence as he gets used to life in Scotland and hopefully breaks out in the Scottish Championship.
