Duane Holmes has been slowly breaking into the lineup at Derby County in recent weeks after struggling to see the field early in the season. His performance on Saturday should help his case to continue to see the field. Holmes earned just his fifth start of the season and made an instant impact. In the third minute, Holmes finished a beautiful attacking move with a strong run and cool finish to open his Derby County account.

Holmes would be subbed off after 82 minutes with Derby County holding on for the 2-1 win. Overall, Holmes delivered yet another Man of the Match type of performance, as has been the custom for him recently. The victory has Derby County in 6th place in the Championship, which would have them in the playoffs to be promoted to the Premier League. After the match, his manager, Frank Lampard, had some very kind words:

With quality attacking midfielders so rare in the player pool for the United States, the 24-year-old should be piquing the interest of the folks at U.S. Soccer.
