Yanks Abroad: Aaron Schoenfeld scores in Israel

Not much action this week as a lot of Americans are dealing with injuries.

With all these injuries this week, I had to reach a bit for a leader of this week’s Yanks Abroad. Aaron Schoenfeld is an American-Israeli striker, although has never been called in to either team. But, he scored one of only a few goals by United States internationals this week so he leads the way. Mallory Weber & Simone Charley got on the score sheet in the Australian W-League as well.

Let’s get to the Yanks Abroad from the last week:

Israel

Aaron Schoenfeld

The 29-year-old Tennessee native scored for Maccabi Tel Aviv in the 11th minute of a 1-1 draw against Sektzia Nes Tziona. The win has them three points clear atop Ligat ha’Al and undefeated through 14 matches.

Australia

Mallory Weber

Weber got a goal and an assist for Adelaide in a 3-2 loss at the Brisbane Roar. HIGHLIGHTS

Simone Charley

On loan from the Portland Thorns, Charley went 90 minutes and scored for Canberra in a 1-1 draw against Perth.

England

Christian Pulisic

After going 62 minutes in Chelsea’s exciting 2-1 Champion’s League win over Lille, Pulisic played the first 65 minutes as they fell at home to AFC Bournemouth 1-0. HIGHLIGHTS

The Schalke 04 man dislocated his shoulder after just 13 minutes in a 1-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt. It was a very Rookie-of-the-Year-like landing and we all know how serious that can be. HIGHLIGHTS
