There were some shining performances from our men & women playing abroad this past week. Goals from Joel Soñora, Tim Weah, & Andrew Wooten weren’t even necessarily the highlights. Tyler Adams is full steam ahead in the Bundesliga after another solid performance, and John Brooks was a rock as well.
This list continues to expand, and I love it.
Argentina
Joel Soñora
The 22-year-old scored his first goal for Talleres in the Superliga after coming off the bench in the 64th minute. VIDEO

Scotland
Tim Weah
Yes, he’s still killing it. Celtic actually played St. Johnstone twice in the past week and Weah played exactly 16 minutes of each. He was pretty quiet in Wednesday’s 2-0 win, but was involved in both goals for Celtic in Sunday’s 2-0 win. He threw himself to the crowd in both celebrations and is clearly loving his time in Scotland. He was man of the match and Celtic are going to have no choice but to start him if he keeps this up. (GOAL) (ASSIST)
And Weah seals the 3 points for Celtic with a wonderfully worked goal on a counter attack. His 3rd goal for the club

Germany
Andrew Wooten
29-year-old Wooten scored a fantastic goal in Sandhausen’s 3-0 win over Bochum. He played all 90 minutes but touched the ball just 27 times. His one shot on the day went in and he was 60% passing. VIDEO
Tyler Adams
WhoScored named Adams to their Bundesliga Team of the Week for his 90 minutes in a 3-0 win over Hannover. He completed the most dribbles (3) and won the most duels (12) in the match. The 19-year-old completed 85% of his passes and nearly had an assist as well. He was dispossessed one time but had four clearances and eight recoveries.
John Brooks
The big centerback also got the TOTW nod from WhoScored as Wolfsburg shutout Hertha Berlin 1-0. He won the most duels of any player with 13 and was 76% passing. Brooks had 11 clearances, two interceptions, and seven recoveries.
Alfredo Morales
The Fortuna Düsseldorf midfielder played all 90 minutes in a 1-1 draw against Hoffenheim. He only completed 16 out of 30 passes, but did a lot of the dirty work in the midfield. He won nine out of 12 duels, was fouled three times, and added four interceptions and nine recoveries. He also got a yellow card in the 17th minute for a bad foul.
Weston McKennie
The 20-year-old played 90 minutes as Schalke 04 fell to Borussia Mönchengladbach 2-0. It wasn’t his best day, nor was it for anyone on the Schalke squad. McKennie completed just 58% of his passes and was dispossessed 12 times (the most of any player on the field). You can watch each touch of his in THIS VIDEO.
Christian Pulisic
He came off the bench for the final 25 minutes for Borussia Dortmund of a 1-1 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt. Pulisic got just 24 touches on the day but was dispossessed three times.
Josh Sargent
Sargent came on for the second half for Werder Bremen as they drew with Nurnberg 1-1. He got just 23 touches on the ball and completed eight out of 11 passes. Watch all of his action from the match in this video.
Julian Green
Green went all 90 minutes for Greuther Fürth in an awful 6-0 loss. Playing in the midfield, he completed 65% of his passes and put one of three shots on target.
Jann George
He played 15 minutes last Wednesday in a 2-0 win for Jahn Regensburg over Paderborn. Then over the weekend he got the start in a 2-0 loss to Holstein Kiel. He was subbed out in the 79th minute after getting a yellow card.
Bobby Wood
He entered the match to start the 2nd half for Hannover but failed to create the spark they needed to beat Tyler Adams & RB Leipzig. Wood lost possession four times, more than any other player. However, he completed 87% of his passes with one chance created.
England
Matt Miazga
He’s finally getting back on the field after Chelsea brought him back from his loan to Nantes, but then loaned him to Reading FC in the Championship. He hadn’t played a club match since October 7th. But in the last week, he put in two 90 minute shifts. Against Bolton last Tuesday he completed 44/57 passes and contributed five clearances, an interception, and three recoveries. On Saturday, he had a solid match against Aston Villa in a 0-0 draw. He was part of the shutout completing 80% of his passes, won seven of eight duels, with seven clearances and three recoveries.
DeAndre Yedlin
The speedy right back was on the pitch for all 90 minutes as Newcastle took down Manchester City by a final of 2-1 last Tuesday. On the first goal he allowed Silva to sneak on the back post and put the ball back into danger, but there will always be a mistake or two when facing an attacking core like City’s. Newcastle were about to pull off another great result on Saturday, but Tottenham scored the winner in the 83rd for a 1-0 final. Yedlin completed 68% of his passes with one chance created. He also added six clearances, eight recoveries, and two interceptions. (Man City Highlights) (Tottenham Highlights) (Wholesome moment)
Tim Ream
31-year-old Ream started and played 27 minutes last Tuesday against Brighton and Hove Albion. Fulham went down 2-0 after 17 minutes and his coach had to make a formation change so Ream was removed. The sub paid off as Fulham put up four second half goals to win 4-2. And then over the weekend Ream played the first half as they fell to Crystal Palace 2-0.
Bri Visalli
She picked up a goal for West Ham United after coming off the bench at halftime in a 3-1 Women’s FA Cup win over Blackburn Rovers.
Cameron Carter-Vickers
Carter-Vickers also played 180 minutes last week for Swansea City. On Tuesday, he completed 89 out of 91 passes (98%), the best rate of anyone on the field. However, he was part of a defense that conceded three times and settled for a draw. Swansea then played Bristol City on Saturday to a 2-0 loss with CCV playing all 90.
Eric Lichaj
The Hull City man played 90 minutes at centerback and helped secure the 2-0 shutout. He played well after moving over from outside back completing 81% of his passes with nine clearances, an interception, and six recoveries.
Duane Holmes
He played all 90 minutes at right-back in Derby County’s scoreless draw at Preston North End. Holmes was 77% passing on the day with five clearances, five interceptions, and two recoveries.
Australia
Christine Nairn
She scored and assisted in Melbourne Victory’s 2-1 win over Perth. GOAL. ASSIST.
Kathleen Naughton
On the other side of the field, Naughton assisted on the loan goal for Perth Glory.
Arin Gilliland
She was part of a big 4-1 win for the Newcastle Jets over the Western Sydney Wanderers to close out their season. Gilliland picked up an assist in the match. HIGHLIGHTS
Netherlands
Andrija Novakovich
Starting at striker for Fortuna Sittard, Novakovich played 80 minutes before being subbed out. They were destroyed by top of the table PSV Eindhoven 5-0. He lost possession four times and lost 15 duels, both of which are the highest of any player on the field.
Belgium
Ethan Horvath
He was between the sticks as Club Brugge drew 1-1 with Gent. Brugge are sitting nine points behind Genk for the top of the table.
Lots of American performances...which ones stood out to you?
