An absolutely phenomenal goal from Lynden Gooch highlights a week full of good news for the Yanks.

This past weekend brought all sorts of good news, including a stunner from Lynden Gooch, a rare goal from Timothy Chandler, a Tyler Adams start, and Gio Reyna got on the pitch for Borussia Dortmund! It’s a list of positives so you can sit back and briefly escape the negatives around United States soccer at the moment.

England

Lynden Gooch

The 24-year-old scored the one and only goal of the match as Sunderland shut out MK Dons on Saturday. The goal was so fantastic that you can’t even be mad at him for getting an excessive celebration yellow card immediately following it. They are holding on to 6th place, the final promotion qualification spot, although they are just six points from the top of the table. Gooch now has three goals and an assist in the last five matches.

Duane Holmes

Derby got the 1-0 win over Eric Lichaj’s Hull City, with Holmes playing the full 90. He turned in another solid performance as they look to climb the table with player-coach Wayne Rooney on the pitch. Sitting in the 15th place, Derby is eight points from promotion qualification.

The Hull City captain played all 90 minutes of that loss at Derby County. Hull are exactly mid table in 12th place, still two points ahead of Rooney & Co.

Now reportedly a target of AC Milan, Robinson played the full match as Wigan Athletic fell to Swansea City by a final of 2-1. With Wigan sitting firmly in the relegation zone, a move to the Italian giants must be looking real nice right about now.
