There may not be many competitions around the world in action at the moment, but our Americans playing overseas still turned in two goals this weekend. Andrija Novakovich kicked off the first leg of a promotion playoff final as well.
Italy
Andrija Novakovich - Forward, Frosinone
The Serie B Promotion Playoff Final did not get off to the best start for Frosinone, as they had a 1-0 loss in the first leg. Novakovich was largely absent, touching the ball 35 times with zero shots, 15/26 passing, and he was dispossessed three times. He did however create one chance that went unfinished. After picking up a yellow card in the 82nd minute, he was substituted a minute later.
The 23-year-old striker has one more chance in the second leg on Thursday to climb up to Serie A.
Sweden
Aron Johannsson - Forward, Hammarby
Johannsson has been able to string together consecutive appearances off the bench and he’s now scored two goals in the last three matches. On Sunday, he came off the bench in the 58th minute and converted a penalty kick in the 79th minute to level the match and secure the point.
His Hammarby side are in 7th place with 24 points, five back from Europa League qualification.
Mix Diskerud - Defender, Helsingborg
Helsingborg sit at the bottom of the Allsvenskan, with Mix getting consistent starts at centerback. On Monday, he headed home a corner kick to open the scoring in the 7th minute, but Sirius would eventually come back and get the win. It was his first goal of the season.
