It didn’t take long for Brenden Aaronson to make an impact for Red Bull Salzburg. Today, Salzburg had two friendly matches, and Aaronson debuted in the starting XI for the first friendly against Vorwärts Steyr.

In the 52nd minute, with Salzburg up 1-0, a scoring opportunity arose off a throw in. Aaronson, who was on the right side of the ball, moved into space at the top of the 18-yard box while the ball was coming down the left flank. A teammate found him in that space, and Aaronson was able to collect the ball and turn to fire a low shot past the keeper for a goal.

It was the first goal for Aaronson for his new club, where he moved on January 1st officially after signing for the club back in October. He completed the 2020 season with the Philadelphia Union, helping them to their first Supporters’ Shield. He has also become a factor with the United States Men’s National Team, as he scored his first goal with the national team last month.

The 20-year-old midfielder is hoping that this is the first of many goals with the club and he can help them to not only success in the Austrian Bundesliga but the Europa League as well.

Congrats, Brenden!
