It was a slower weekend than we’ve grown accustomed to the last couple months, with only a couple Americans on the scoresheet. But, Lynden Gooch saved the week with a goal at Wembley Stadium to give Sunderland the 1-0 win over Tranmere in the EFL Trophy Final. The 25-year-old has been with Sunderland since 2012 this is the first trophy the club has won in that time (they lost this final in 18/19). I’m really happy for Gooch after seeing some dark days with the club. (VIDEO)

After committing to the United States Men’s National Team last week, Jordan Siebatcheu picked up an assist on Sunday. He helped create the equalizer as Young Boys salvaged a point in a 2-2 draw at St. Gallen. But, they’re still firmly atop the Switzerland Super League table with a 17-point gap between second placed Servette FC. Siebatcheu has nine goals & three assists in 23 league appearances this season.

The Belgian Cup semifinals took place this weekend, and Sunday saw a head-to-head between two USMNT players. Mark McKenzie’s Genk advanced to the final with a 2-1 win over Matt Miazga’s Anderlecht. McKenzie came on for the final 17 minutes after Genk went down to 10 men with a 2-0 lead. Anderlecht pulled one back just after that substitution, but couldn’t complete the comeback.
Unfortunately, an own goal from Miazga proved to be the difference in the match. The moment came from a weak cross and he took a half-hearted swing that sent the ball soaring into his own net. The 25-year-old was visibly frustrated with himself. No doubt his legendary centerback of a coach, Vincent Kompany, wasn’t happy either.
