Apologies for the delay! I have been sidelined by the weakest, and only, kind of injury that can sideline a blogger...
I hurt my finger!
Stitches in the thumb, to be exact. But, it’s still attached and I’m back in action this week. You know who else was back in action? Jann George was on the field in Germany for the first time in nearly a month.
Now that I’ve nailed that awkward segue, let’s get to the rest of the Yanks!
Starting off in Italy, Andrija Novakovich ended the Serie B season with a hat trick & assist in Frosinone’s 4-0 win at Reggina. In spite of the valiant last effort, Frosinone finished six points out of promotion qualification in 10th place. But at least the Wisconsin native finished with a solid 11 goals & five assists on the season.
Brenden Aaronson also had a man of the match performance, scoring a brace for Jesse Marsch’s RB Salzburg in a 3-1 win at Sturm Graz. That makes it three goals in two matches this month for Aaronson. It’s all on the line Wednesday (2:30pm ET) when they take on Rapid Wien. A win or draw gives Salzburg the title and puts another USMNT player in the UEFA Champions League.

On the other end of the spectrum, Tyler Adams was out with a back injury. Tyler Boyd also had to watch from the sidelines this weekend with a muscle injury. In the Premier League, Tim Ream & Antonee Robinson’s Fulham FC were relegated back to the Championship after a 2-0 loss to Burnley FC.
