USMNT friendly vs. Mexico in San Antonio is sold out

David Banks-USA TODAY Sports

The United States and Mexico will play in front of a packed Alamodome on April 15. Officials announced that tickets for the friendly are sold out, which means there won't be an empty seat at the 65,000-seat stadium in San Antonio.

It's not much of a surprise that the match sold out. Tickets has been selling quickly every since they first went on sale and were over 50,000 a couple weeks ago. But to sell out the match two months ahead of time is still incredibly impressive, especially seeing as the tickets are hardly cheap.

The U.S. and Mexico have considerably hype behind them right now. The Americans are coming off of a World Cup in which they drew record ratings and made it out of an incredibly difficult group, giving them more of a following than ever before, even if they have struggled since. Meanwhile, Mexico have been rejuvenated under manager Miguel Herrera, who has brought a more attacking and entertaining style of play, as well as results.

With both teams followed by energized fan bases, tickets for the friendly went quickly. There's always a buzz around U.S. vs. Mexico matches, and you can bet that will be the case on April 15. Toss in the sell out and domed stadium and the atmosphere should be incredible for the best rivalry in all of North America.
