The United States has spent weeks training. They went to Chile, where they were beaten by La Roja. They have had to sit and listen to Jurgen Klinsmann say that they're not fit enough. But now January camp is set to close, and it will do so with a home friendly against Panama, which is the perfect opportunity to end things on a high note.
This is a big year for the U.S., with the summer's Gold Cup looming large. But World Cup qualifying also starts this year, as does Olympic qualifying. The Americans will no longer be able to say they're just on the right path, or growing, or learning before long. They're going to need results and while that's not the case against Panama, a win and a little momentum would do them wonders.
After Fox Sports 1 broadcast the Chile friendly, ESPN gets the keys this time around and will be bringing the match to you live. Unfortunately, there will be little pregame and no postgame coverage. The match kicks off at 4 p.m. ET, and ESPN is going to their coverage just five minutes earlier.
For those looking for Spanish coverage, UniMas has you covered. The match will also be shown on Watch ESPN, for cord cutters or those on the road.
The StubHub Center is undergoing some renovations, with a new scoreboard being installed, as well as the re-sodding for the grass berm. As a result, things may look a little strange, but the pitch and stands are as fully functional as always so all will be well as the Americans look to close out January camp with a win.
Match date/time: Sunday, 4 p.m. ET
Venue: StubHub Center, Carson, CA
TV: ESPN (English), UniMas (Spanish)
