Aron Johannsson is off of the United States roster for their friendly against Switzerland due to an infection. The striker has been getting treatment for the infection and will not be ready in time for Tuesday's friendly. Jurgen Klinsmann has called Jordan Morris up from the U-23s to replace him.
It's a shame that Johannsson is missing out on another match. Last week's contest against Denmark was the first time he was with the U.S. since the World Cup because injuries ruled him out of the fall friendlies. He played decently, scoring a goal and doing a lot of good defensive work, but now he finally got healthy again and an infection has knocked him out again.
Morris is back as the lone collegiate player on the American team. Last fall he became the first collegian since 1999 to be called up to the U.S. and he made his international debut in November. While many expected him to sign a pro contract after Stanford's season ended in November, he did not do so and intends to return for another year of college. He had a goal and an assist while playing for the U-23s against Bosnia and Herzegovina last week.
The U.S. will play Switzerland in Zurich on Tuesday, with kickoff set for 12 p.m. ET. The match will be televised live on Fox Sports 1.
