USMNT vs. Netherlands: Time, TV schedule, streaming and more

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The United States kicks off its summer today when they take on the Netherlands in Amsterdam. They'll square off against the Oranje, then head to Germany for a match against the world champions in their final contests before they convene for Gold Cup training camp.

The U.S. hasn't fared well against the Netherlands in the past, failing to beat them in every attempt. That includes their last meeting, also at the Amsterdam Arena, when the Americans lost in a match marred by Nigel de Jong's horror tackle that injured Stuart Holden.

ESPN will have live coverage of the match with Jon Champion and Taylor Twellman on the call. The match kicks off at 2:30 p.m. and ESPN is picking up their coverage 10 minutes ahead of time so it will be an abbreviated pre-game show. In recent matches, ESPN has let their play-by-play man and analyst handle the pre-game and halftime coverage, so they wll probably turn to Champion and Twellman for that.

Jurgen Klinsmann has a big summer ahead of him and it starts today. He has used the 10 months since the World Cup to experiment, but the team needs to be clicking come next month, which means these are the last chances to start bringing the squad into form. We'll see how they do it, and against a very good team today.

Match date/time: Friday, 2:30 p.m. ET

Venue: Amsterdam Arena, Amsterdam, Netherlands

TV: ESPN (English), UniMas (Spanish)

Streaming: Watch ESPN
