The United States is in Amsterdam to take on the Netherlands for their first match of a very big summer. The Gold Cup begins next month and Jurgen Klinsmann's side has this match and their clash with Germany next week to get themselves ready.
The Americans are without several key players as Clint Dempsey, Jozy Altidore, Jermaine Jones and Alejandro Bedoya, for various reasons. That will make today's test against the sixth ranked team in the world all the more difficult, but Klinsmann's teams have shown a knack for getting results against top teams in friendlies when short-handed.
Klinsmann has opted to put Michael Bradley back in a creative role today and with Dempsey and Altidore out, Aron Johannsson and Gyasi Zardes will have to lead the way up front. The biggest question is at back, though, where a young defense is highlighted by 22-year-olds John Brooks and Ventura Alvarado in the middle.
United States lineup: Guzan; Chandler, Alvarado, Brooks, Shea; Bradley, Beckerman, Morales; Zardes, Johannsson, Johnson
It all kicks off at 2:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. Tune in, cheer for America and chat in this match thread.
