The United States Men’s National Team will be returning to California. The team announced this morning that they will take on Costa Rica in a friendly February 1st at Dignity Sports Health Park in Carson, California. The match will conclude their annual January Camp.
The roster for January Camp is set to be announced this afternoon, and the Camp will take place January 5-25 in Qatar. During that time, the team will have some closed-door scrimmages, but head coach Gregg Berhalter expressed a desire to get used to the facilities, logistics, and weather of Qatar ahead of the 2022 World Cup. World Cup qualifying begins this fall.
Costa Rica and the USMNT have an even 16-16-5 record against each other since 1975. The teams last played February 2nd in San Jose, a 2-0 victory for the USMNT at the conclusion of 2019’s January Camp.
