The United States Men’s National Team completed January Camp Saturday afternoon with a 2-0 defeat of Costa Rica in San Jose, California. Gregg Berhalter’s first camp as USMNT head coach was deemed a rousing success with that victory as well as the 3-0 beating of Panama last weekend in Arizona. The win against Costa Rica was one that saw two second half goals after a first 45 minutes that were dull at best on both sides.
Against the Ticos, we saw four players who had performances that were rated much higher than the rest of the team: Nick Lima, Sebastian Lletget, Paul Arriola, and Jonathan Lewis, who each had a match rating of over 7.000. In the end, the Stars & Stripes FC community voted Sebastian Lletget as the Man of the Match. He subbed on in the 63rd minute and scored the USMNT’s first goal in the 80th minute. Eight minutes later, he assisted on Paul Arriola’s goal and proved to be the difference for the Americans.
The ratings for the USMNT:
Zack Steffen - 6.709
Nick Lima - 7.151
Walker Zimmerman - 6.352
Aaron Long - 6.148
Daniel Lovitz - 5.094
Cristian Roldan - 5.806
Wil Trapp - 5.867
Djordje Mihailovic - 5.913
