Today, Gregg Berhalter announced the 24-man United States men’s national team roster that will be available for friendlies against Ecuador on March 21st in Orlando and when they face Chile on March 26th in Houston. The roster represents the new head coach’s first chance to bring in his European-based stars to integrate them with MLS-based players and begin to determine who could form the 23-man roster at this summer’s Gold Cup.
This roster of players will prepare to take on two South American teams in Chile and Ecuador. While both teams, like the USMNT, failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup, they both competed at the 2014 World Cup. Together, they present two formidable tests to this young USMNT squad.
The March friendly roster:
GOALKEEPERS (3): Ethan Horvath (Club Brugge), Sean Johnson (New York City FC), Zack Steffen (Columbus Crew SC).
DEFENDERS (8): John Brooks (Wolfsburg), Omar Gonzalez (Atlas), Nick Lima (San Jose Earthquakes), Aaron Long (New York Red Bulls), Daniel Lovitz (Montreal Impact), Matt Miazga (Reading FC), Tim Ream (Fulham), DeAndre Yedlin (Newcastle).
MIDFIELDERS (7): Tyler Adams (RB Leipzig), Michael Bradley (Toronto FC), Sebastian Lletget (LA Galaxy), Weston McKennie (Schalke 04), Christian Pulisic (Borussia Dortmund), Cristian Roldan (Seattle Sounders), Wil Trapp (Columbus Crew SC).
