The two teams just faced each other in the Gold Cup final on July 7th in Chicago, Mexico winning that match, and the Gold Cup, 1-0. Before that, it was a Tyler Adams strike that was the difference in a 1-0 victory for the USMNT last September 11th in Nashville.
Mexico holds a 35-19-15 advantage over the USMNT all time, however it was in the 2000s where the USMNT dominated Mexico, going 10-4-2 during that decade. During this decade, it has been dead even: 4-4-4. This match will determine who will have the best record over the other for the 2010s in just the latest chapter in this rivalry.
