USMNT to play Uruguay in September

The team heads back to St. Louis to face La Celeste.

The United States Men’s National Team is headed back to the Lou. U.S. Soccer announced today that the USMNT will host Uruguay in a friendly on September 10th at Busch Stadium in St. Louis. They last played in St. Louis back in November 2015 in a World Cup qualifier against St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The USMNT has played every single team from CONMEBOL several times since the last time they faced La Celeste. That match was May 12, 2002, a 2-1 victory for the Americans at RFK Stadium in Washington, DC. Now, they face a Uruguayan team that is ranked 5th in the world in the latest FIFA World Rankings and boasts high profile stars like Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani.

This match also completes the fall friendly schedule for the United States. They also face Mexico on September 6th in New Jersey. They participate in CONCACAF Nations League group play in October and November when they face Canada and Cuba at home and on the road.
