The United States Men’s National Team has found their second opponent for the March international window. Today, after many rumors that they were in talks, U.S. Soccer confirmed that they will take on Wales in a friendly March 30th in Cardiff. The two teams take the field against each other just 4 days after the USMNT play the Netherlands in Eindhoven.
Wales are currently tied in the FIFA World Rankings with the USMNT at 22nd in the world, which sets up a great match. Wales is a formidable opponent for a USMNT preparing for this summer’s Nations League playoffs and with World Cup qualifying beginning this fall. The March window will be the USMNT’s final window to have friendlies, and head coach Gregg Berhalter has decided to provide major tests for the team by playing in Europe. Wales, led by Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale, is preparing for this summer’s Euro 2020.
