There were many matches to choose from this weekend, but in our heart of hearts there can be only one for Pulisic & Stripes FC. That’s right. The Pulisliga kicks off this weekend as Wolfsburg host Borussia Dortmund. If not for John Brooks’ injury that will keep him out for up to three months, this could’ve been a match-up of two of the highest profile Americans in the league. Alas, we’ll settle for obsessing over Christian Pulisic’s season debut.

The 18-year-old human savior of American soccer has had a very good preseason leading up to what should be an extremely important season. His role at the club is steadily increasing. With injuries piled up and transfer sagas occurring, it seems as if Pulisic has found himself in a spot of being a sure-fire starter to begin the season for one of the biggest clubs in the world. That’s a mind-blowing realization on the norm, but for Pulisic it’s old hat at this point. Let’s hope he takes advantage of his extra playing time and makes 2017-18 the Season of Pulisic.
