The United States Men’s National Team have had a rough go lately, with a huge loss to Mexico and a draw to Uruguay during this international window. Of course, there were plenty of reasons for USMNT fans to not only think that the sky is falling, but that it’s sinking below the earth. There have been rashes of injuries to key players, abysmal performances by others, questionable exclusions from the roster, and just overall confusion about the direction of the program.
Still, it’s not all doom and gloom for the USMNT. Their draw to Uruguay may have been to a roster that wasn’t their A+ lineup, but it’s still the #5 team in the world and was a solid result considering that it was an opponent that we haven’t faced in almost 2 decades. We’ve seen the debuts of some promising young players, like Sergiño Dest and Paxton Pomykal. More and more youth are on the radar of fans and some will say the future is bright.
So, today let’s focus on the positive aspects of the program. As we get ready to take on Canada and Cuba in CONCACAF Nations League play the next two months, what are you excited about? What are you looking forward to? What have you seen that gives you confidence? If you don’t have something nice to say, save it for another day. Let’s think positively about our USMNT today and what we can get behind as we move forward. Hit the comments and discuss!
