USMNT midweek viewing guide: Der Klassiker in DFL Supercup

Reyna and Richards meet in the battle between #1 and #2 in Germany.

The European calendar is in full swing, and a long with it comes a full slate of action for Americans, both home and abroad! The headline fixture is the DFL-Supercup, as Borussia Dortmund (and Gio Reyna) host perennial foes Bayern Munich (and Chris Richards).

Let’s get into it! Here’s a snapshot of USMNT players in action. Injured players are highlighted in red, and dual nationals in blue.

Tuesday

  • Borussia Dortmund v Bayern Munich, 2:30p on ESPN+: Gio Reyna and Chris Richards are the headline duo as the DFL Supercup travels to Signal Iduna Park.
  • RB Salzburg v Brøndby IF, 3p on Galavision, fuboTV, Sling TV, Univision NOW: Brenden Aaronson and Salzburg host Brøndby in Champions League qualifying at Red Bull Arena. Normally this would be a Yank-on-Yank battle, but Christian Cappis has been sidelined due to COVID-19. Bryan Okoh was with Salzburg over the summer, but has returned to Liefering in the second division for now.
  • LA Galaxy v Colorado Rapids, 10:30p on ESPN+: Julian Araujo and Sebastian Lletget host Kellyn Acosta and Cole Bassett in Carson.

  • Schalding-Heining v Bayern II, 12:30p: Malik Tillman and Taylor Booth are starting for Bayern II in the German 4th division, which is already in its eighth matchday.
  • Huddersfield Town v Preston North End, 2:45p: Duane Holmes and Matt Olosunde meet in the Championship.
  • Millwall v Fulham FC, 2:45p on on ESPN+: Antonee Robinson and Tim Ream look to continue their winning ways after putting the hurt on Huddersfield 5-1 at the weekend.
  • Tigres UANL v Querétaro, 8p on TUDN, fuboTV: Joe Gallardo and Bryan Olivera could play for Querétaro.
  • Necaxa v Pumas UNAM, 10p on TUDN, fuboTV: Alex Zendejas and Fernando Arce meet Sebastian Saucedo and Pumas.
  • San Jose Earthquakes v Minnesota United, 10:30p on ESPN+, fuboTV: Cade Cowell and the Earthquakes play host to Hassani Dotson and Minnesota in San Jose.

Wednesday

  • Nottingham Forest v Blackburn Rovers, 2:45p: Will Ethan Horvath get a shot in goal for Forest, or will it be Brice Samba? Alex Mighten could feature regardless.
  • Young Boys v Ferencvaros, 3p on Galavision, fuboTV, Sling TV, Univision NOW: Jordan Pefok and Young Boys host Henry Wingo and Ferencvaros in Champions League qualifying.
  • New England Revolution v DC United, 7p on ESPN+, fuboTV: Matt Turner and the Revs welcome Kevin Paredes and DC into the friendly confines of Gillette Stadium.
  • FC Dallas v Seattle Sounders, 8:30p on ESPN+, Prime Video: The Huntsmen (Pepi, Pomykal, Che, Ferreira, and Hollingshead) take on Cristian Roldan, Josh Atencio, and the Sounders at Toyota Park.

  • Malmö FF v Ludogorets, 3p on TUDN.com, fuboTV: Romain Gall is unlikely to see the field for Malmö after being sent back from loan.

  • Inter Miami v Chicago Fire, 7:30p on ESPN+: Ventura Alvarado and Indiana Vassilev take on Brian Gutierrez and the Fire in Fort Lauderdale.
  • New York Red Bulls v Columbus Crew, 8p on ESPN+, fuboTV, Sling TV: Two of MLS’ top American scorers meet as Caden Clark and Gyasi Zardes clash at Red Bull Arena.
  • Santos Laguna v Atlas, 8p on ESPN Deportes, ESPN+, fuboTV, Sling TV: Santiago Muñoz might not feature in this one, as he is supposedly working on a move to Newcastle United.
  • Nashville SC v Orlando City SC, 8:30p on ESPN+: Walker Zimmerman is back from injury, we’ll see if he’s fit enough to contain both Chris Mueller and Daryl Dike (who is also dealing with his own injury woes).
  • Sporting KC v Portland Timbers, 8:30p on ESPN+: Tim Melia and Cameron Duke host Eryk Williamson at Children’s Mercy Park. With Gianluca Busio out of the picture, Duke has been stepping up for Kansas City.
  • Real Salt Lake v Houston Dynamo, 10p on ESPN+: Aaron Herrera and RSL host Memo Rodriguez at Rio Tinto Stadium.

Thursday

  • Omonia Nicosia v Antwerp, 1p: Mix Diskerud meets Sam Vines in Europa League qualifying.
  • Randers v Galatasaray, 1p: DeAndre Yedlin and Galatasaray have their own Europa qualifier.
  • Trabzonspor v AS Roma, 1:30p: Bryan Reynolds and Roma are in Conference League qualifying.
  • Paços de Ferreira v Tottenham Hotspur, 2:30p: There’s an outside chance Cameron Carter-Vickers could feature for Spurs in their Conference League qualifier.

  • KuPS v Union Berlin, 12p: Malick Sanogo could make his Union debut in their Conference League qualifier.
  • Qarabag v Aberdeen, 12p: Christian Ramirez attempts to maintain his hot streak for Aberdeen in Conference League qualifying.
  • Neftchi v Maccabi Haifa, 1p: Josh Cohen and Haifa continue Conference League qualifying.
  • Anderlecht v Vitesse, 2p: Kenny Saief and Anderlecht have a Conference League qualifier of their own.
  • Barcelona SC v Fluminense, 8:30p on beIN Sports en Español, Fanatiz, fuboTV, Sling TV: Michael Hoyos could feature for “the other” Barcelona, as the Ecuadorian side come into this Copa Libertadores quarter-final tied 2-2 on aggregate.
