It’s about that time of the year again, folks. Transfer season is approaching. Which means it’s time for the rumors to start flying. Young USMNT midfielders Tyler Adams and Jonathan Gonzalez are already being subject of speculation heading into January.

Calciomercato.com is reporting that the New York Red Bulls Homegrown Player is on the radar of Italian giants Roma as a candidate to replace the aging Daniele De Rossi in the Giallorossi midfield.

The defensive-midfielder has already been looked at by Valencia, and now it appears Roma as taken note. According to a source with the club, while a transaction is not imminent – nor is it clear whether they’ve begun making overtures to his MLS club – it is confirmed that Adams is on their radar.

They say that a deal is not imminent, nor have there been serious talks, but that Adams is a player that interests them for a future move. That might not be a concrete rumor, but it’s exciting nonetheless.

Meanwhile, Matthew Doyle of MLSSoccer.com dropped a little nugget last night that several “big” clubs around Europe are interested in Monterrey’s Jonathan Gonzalez and are lining up some hefty transfer offers.

It doesn’t appear anything is close to happening with either talented midfielder, but it’s exciting to hear of the possibilities of future USMNT stars heading to Europe at such young ages.

Adams made his USMNT debut in November, while Gonzalez is starring in Mexico and will play in the Liga MX Final tonight. Hopefully this is just the beginning for both of them as we head towards 2022.
