Belgian blog Anderlecht Online has suggested that United States Men’s National Team midfielder Kenny Saief is set to join an unnamed MLS club. A rough translation of the report suggests that the MLS side is interested in signing Saief on loan. Saief is not on the MLS Allocation List.
The 25-year-old left-midfielder has struggled with injuries in recent years, missing the first half of the 2017-2018 Jupiler Pro League season due to groin surgery. A leg injury kept Saief out of the first six games of the 2018-2019 season and he has struggled to earn playing time since returning to full fitness.
Saief has played just 14 minutes since December 22nd and hasn’t made the match day squad for Anderlecht’s past four games. He’s recorded one assist in limited playing time this season. Anderlecht has failed to live up to its typically lofty expectations this season, sitting sixth in the league table. The Belgian side is 16 points behind league leaders Genk.
Saief has earned four caps with the USMNT, appearing in three international friendlies during 2018. Despite having yet to feature in an official competition, Saief is cap-tied after filing his one-time switch from Israel to the USMNT in 2017. He played for Israel’s youth teams at several different age groups and made two appearances for its senior national team.
Do you think Saief should move to MLS?
