According a report by Gregor MacGregor of BristolLive, English Championship side Bristol City are looking to acquire United States Men’s National Team goalkeeper Zack Steffen on loan from Manchester City. In December 2018, it was announced that Steffen would join Manchester City in July 2019 for a transfer fee in the range of $7-10 million. While Bristol currently have four first team goalkeepers, the article notes that Frank Fielding, who has made 7 appearances in all competitions this season, is “out of contract in the summer and is unlikely to be offered a new deal.”

Bristol City currently sits 6th in the English Championship and has the fourth-best defensive record in the league, with 44 goals conceded in 40 games. The top two teams in the Championship are automatically promoted to the English Premier League and the 3rd-6th place teams participate in playoffs, to determine the other side promoted to the EPL.

Steffen has been in excellent form for Columbus Crew SC this season, with four shutouts and just one goal conceded in five appearances. Crew SC is currently leading the Eastern Conference.

Do you think this would be a good loan move for Steffen?
