U.S. U-18 midfielder Ethan Bryant joins Belgian side K.S.V. Roselare

The highly touted youngster leaves the USL Championship for Europe.

USL Championship side San Antonio FC has announced that United States U-18 Men’s National Team central midfielder Ethan Bryant has signed with K.S.V. Roselare. Roselare plays in the Belgian Proximus League (Belgian second division) and currently sits eighth (last) in the table after three games.

Bryant joined SAFC in 2017 and was the youngest player to make a competitive appearance for the club upon his debut at age 16. He became SAFC’s youngest goalscorer (at age 17) during the 2017-2018 season. During Bryant’s time with the club, he made 19 appearances in all competitions, scoring 2 goals and adding 3 assists.

Bryant has featured in U.S. U-18 training camps, but he has yet to appear in an official competition for a U.S. youth side. He joins fellow Americans Ethan Horvath (Club Brugge), Kenny Saief (Anderlecht), Brendan Hines-Ike (K.V. Kortrijk), and Ben Lederman (KAA Gent II) in Belgium.

Is this a good move for the youngster?
