Well, this could be something to watch. According to a report from Spanish media outlet Marca, Real Madrid has put Gio Reyna on their radar to possibly bring him to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Gio Reyna, who turns 18 on November 13th, has broken out as a bonafide star for Borussia Dortmund over the past several months, and he has been a mainstay in the Black & Yellow lineup each week. The American attacking midfielder, who will undoubtedly be called into the next United States Men’s National Team camp, whenever that may be, has formed a dynamic partnership with Dortmund teammate Erling Haaland. Real Madrid is interested in both youngsters to bolster their attacking core as some of their current players enter the tail end of their careers.
Keep in mind that this doesn’t indicate any imminent pursuit of Reyna by Los Galácticos, but it would be something for Gio Reyna to be pursued by arguably the biggest team in the world. Real Madrid has never had a American appear for their men’s team, and Reyna leading the attack for Los Blancos would be a sight to see. And, given how great the chemistry is with Reyna and Haaland, Madrid looks to be interested in keeping that partnership together.
We’ll see what develops over the coming months, or if this is something that could step up next summer. But imagine turning on El Clásico and seeing Gio Reyna in Real Madrid white and Sergiño Dest and Konrad de la Fuente in Barcelona’s blaugrana. Someone get Florentino Perez on the line and make this happen!
