U.S. Soccer announced on Wednesday that Tab Ramos has been forced into one roster change for the U-20 World Cup. Fulham fullback Marlon Fossey has been withdrawn due to a groin injury he came into training camp with. His recovery wasn’t as fast as the staff had hoped and he has been replaced by Philadelphia Union defender Auston Trusty.
Trusty, who has played many matches for the team this cycle, was already in camp as an emergency back-up, so there will be no travel issues. Fossey is a big loss for the team, however. He was very impressive in the qualifying tournament. His play at right back was exceptional and he looks to have a bright future ahead of him. With his departure, expect Real Salt Lake’s Danny Acosta to have a bigger role to play at right back.
The U.S. kick off the World Cup against Ecuador on Monday morning at 4:00 a.m. ET. The match will be televised live on FOX Sports 1.
