The time has come. Another Under-20 FIFA World Cup is upon us. The United States top young players gather together to see where they stack up among the best in the world. Tab Ramos has selected his group of 21 and they’re ready to do battle. Their first opposition comes in the form of CONMEBOL side Ecuador.
South American opponents are always tricky for Americans. Their style of play is frenetic and fast, something the U.S. doesn’t see much of on a regular basis. This will undoubtedly be a tough test and a good measuring stick for just how good this team actually is.
The likes of Weston McKennie, Nick Taitague, and Josh Perez aren’t here, but that doesn’t mean all hope is lost. Talent is aplenty on this roster. Players like Brooks Lennon, Josh Sargent, and Tyler Adams now have a huge chance to prove they are top players at this level. That’s what this tournament is all about. Who will shine through when it matters most? Which young Americans are ready to graduate to the next level? This U-20 World Cup will provide us with a few of those answers. Who’s ready?
Rise and shine! One hour til kickoff at the #U20WC in Incheon! Meet the U-20 #USMNT Starting XI.
